Police Escorts Former Zamfara Governor Out Of FRCN Kaduna

Armed policemen of the Kaduna State Police Command escorted former Zamfara State Governor and serving Senator, Ahmed Sani (Yariman Bakura), out of the premises of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Kaduna.

The former governor was participating in a weekly two-hour Hausa vernacular program, Hannu da Yauwa run by the 50-year old radio established by the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello.

 

The state’s police commissioner, Olufemi Adenaike, told newsmen that the senator, who is also one of the coordinators of the APC, was not arrested per se, noting that Yerima was merely invited to explain the statement he made at the radio station.

Police sources in Kaduna said the former governor was questioned regarding a threat he reportedly made during the show when a caller asked what would happen if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) refused to register the newly formed political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). 

Yerima said, if the authorities denied the party registration, they would mobilise and converge on a square in  Abuja and would not leave until the party is registered, similar to what happened at the Egypt’s Tahrir Square during the Arab uprising.

However, the senator was released after being interrogated by the police for about three hours. His supporters had mobilized themselves to the police headquarters but were denied entry.
