Fake Army Lieutenant Faces Trial

A fake Army Lieutenant is facing trial for allegedly snatching seven cars. The suspect, Lawrence Oguezi, who was allegedly caught impersonating Lt.S.M. Sule, was arrested and charged before Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, with conspiracy and robbery.

The seven cars the police recovered from him include a Lexus SUV belonging to Lt. S.M. Sule, a Sienna belonging to a Civil Defence official, a Toyota Camry Tiny Light, a  Honda Accord, a  Honda Civic  and a Camry 2009 model he allegedly stole from a  car stand.

It was alleged that he sold all the cars in Owerri, Imo State, south-south  Nigeria.

In a statement to police investigators, Oguezi confessed to have been convicted and spent two years in Kirikiri Maximum Prison before he was rearrested at a hotel in Ogudu GRA for impersonation and car snatching.

The suspect, an indigene of Delta State, south-south Nigeria, was allegedly arrested following series of car snatching operations while posing as an army lieutenant. It was alleged that the suspect, during one of his operations, snatched a car from Lt.S.M. Sule and in the stolen car; he saw three pairs of army uniform which he wore to carry out his operations with a forged army identity card.
