Chris Brown Takes Duet With Rihanna Off His 'X' Album?

With less than a month away from the release of X, Chris Brown is still making some tough decisions about the album's final presentation. The R&B superstar has, reportedly, decided to leave Rihanna off the upcoming album.

A source told Hollywoodlife.com, "Just saw the working track list for ‘X’ yesterday — Rihanna is not on there."

Previously, Chris said that he wrote a song for her titled "Put It Up" He told MTV in April that, "It's more of an RnB record... I wanted to do an RnB record with Rihanna because I didn't want it to be the same four-on-the-floor, pop. At the end of the day, that's what they expect from us, so I wanted to do more of a record that nobody really heard her sing on as far as that genre."

The plan was to include it on his forthcoming album as a follow up to their collaborations for "Birthday Cake" and "Nobody's Business", but he was never entirely sure it would make the final cut.

He told Rolling Stone back in March that, "It's still in the pot of songs we have to pick from. It may or may not make it, but you know, because she's already on it, it's a strong possibility."

Now, it seems, the strongest possibility is that the song with his on/off again ex-girlfriend will not be "in the pot."

"Record execs wanted that song on there," the unnamed Hollywoodlife.com source said, "but Chris said he would rather not and wouldn’t allow the record to be released unless they took it off. They’re still hoping to convince Chris or pay him more to change his mind because it would be a hit. The record hasn’t been pressed yet, so things can change, but at this point he’s not changing his mind."

Meanwhile, confirmed features include Kendrick Lamar for "Autumn Leaves" and Aaliyah, whose unreleased vocals make a guest appearance on his latest single, "They Don't Know."

X, Chris' sixth studio album, is slated for released July 16.
