Grammy-winning artists Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae will lend their voices to the animated flick ‘Rio 2,’ the sequel to the 2011 bird-inspired movie of the same name.
The pair will join fellow stars like
Jamie Foxx, will.i.am, Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
No word on what kind of birds Mars and Monae will play in the movie.
Their roles will most likely involve crooning infectious sing-a-long
tunes. Besides starring in the movie, Monae will also contribute to the
movie soundtrack.
‘Rio 2′ is being written and directed by Carlos Saldanha and tells
the story about a domesticated blue macaw named Blu (Eisenberg) and his
mate, Jewell (Hathaway), who moved their brood to the Amazon. As Blu
tries to fit in around his new surroundings, he worries that he might
lose his family to the call of the wild.
‘Rio 2′ is scheduled to fly into theaters on April 14, 2014.
