Nigeria Leaps to 30th Position on FIFA Rankings, Now 4th In Africa

The national team with the Afcon win in South Africa have moved up to their best ranking position in three years
The new Fifa/Coca-Cola World ranking for February 2013 shows that Nigeria has moved up 20 places, to 30th in the world which is the country’s best position since August 2010.

This follows on from a third triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations Cup that ended in South Africa on Sunday. Before the tournament began on January 19, the Super Eagles were ranked 52nd in the world and 10th in Africa.

In South Africa, the Eagles beat higher ranked teams like Cote d’Ivoire and Mali and drew with Zambia in the group stage.
