Jason Collins’ Fiancé Never Knew He Was Gay

Jason Collins said that calling off his wedding was one of the most difficult choices he’s ever had to make, and the woman he left at the alter now knows why.

Carolyn Moos, who TMZ reports is the woman that Collins was engaged to, told the website that she had no clue that Collins was gay throughout their long-term relationship.

"It's very emotional for me as a woman to have invested 8 years in my dream to have a husband, soul mate, and best friend in him," Moos told TMZ. Moos says that Collins did reach out last weekend to tell her that he was gay, but his bombshell announcement in an essay with Sports Illustrated was still a stunner.

“This is all hard to understand,” she said.

Collins’ efforts to appear straight went so far that it led to his lengthy relationship with Moos, which Collins pulled the plug on in 2009, a decision that he said was one of the toughest he’s had to make.

Carolyn Moos, despite the stunning revelation from her ex-fiance, doesn’t seem to be scorned by Collins coming out of the closet. "I care about (Jason) tremendously and only want the best for him. I want Jason to be happy for a lifetime and stay true to who he really is, inside and out."

Collins is on his way to finding that happiness.
