Nicki Minaj was the
first winner at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas Sunday
night (May 19). The Young Money star won the Top Rap Artist award.
Before the awards telecast began, she received some honors — the Top Streaming Artist trophy, and the Top Rap Album award for her album, ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.’
During her acceptance speech, Minaj graced the
stage in a red flowing gown and seemed to be in shock that her name was
called.
At the podium, Minaj thanked her label, management, her boo Safaree,
and more importantly, her fans (aka the Barbz).
“Oh wow! I definitely
didn’t expect this one,” she told the audience. “I would like to thank
Billboard for having me, recognizing me and allowing to me to perform
tonight.”
“I want to thank my fans,” she continued. “Barbz, I love you. Without
you this wouldn’t be possible. I appreciate your support and
constant…reminder that where there’s a will, there’s a way. Cash Money
Young Money, I love you guys.”
