A woman has given birth to her first child after an agonizing nineteen miscarriages over 15 years.
Jo is one of 1.5 million women in the UK who
suffer from endometriosis, a gynaecological condition that often leaves
victims infertile. But she was told of pioneering surgery by Cardiff consultant Richard Penketh.
Penketh did a four-hour operation, which involved cutting away scar tissue caused by the condition, last year. Within 2 months, Jo became pregnant for the 20th time.
She was so much in fear of losing her baby once again that she even refused to take pain relief when she went into labour.
Jo said: “Being a mum is wonderful, everything I expected and more. It is what
we’d wanted for so long.”
