Prince William and Kate Middleton Debut Their Royal Baby

Kate Middleton stepped out showing off her son with husband Prince William, just one day after giving birth. The Duchess and the Duke of Cambridge, along with their baby boy swaddled in a blanket, greeted reporters outside St. Mary's hospital in London Tuesday, July 23.

"We are still working on a name, so we will have that as soon as we can," he said when asked about the name.

"It's very emotional," the Duchess said of the experience. "It's a moment that any parent having just given birth will know what this feeling feels like." The Duke added, "It's very special."

The baby was born at 4:34 P.M. on Monday, July 22 and weighed a healthy 8 lbs., 6 oz. "He's got a good pair of lungs on him that's for sure. He's a good boy, he's quite heavy," William said. "It's the first time we've seen him, really we haven't had a proper chance to catch up."

"I'll remind him of his tardiness when he's a bit older!" he joked. "I will remind him of this time ... I know how long you have all been sat out here, so hopefully the hospital and all you guys can go back to normal now and we can look after him."

The proud dad also cracked jokes about his son's look. "He has got her looks, thankfully," he said. "He has way more than me, thank God." Of his daddy duty, Kate said William has done his first diaper duty as exclaiming, "He's done his first nappy."

The Palace said in a statement, "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge will be discharged this evening from St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their son will travel home to Kensington Palace. Their Royal Highnesses would like to reiterate their thanks to the hospital for the care and treatment they have all received."
