Lady GaGa is accused of breaking immigration laws in Russia. The pop superstar was allegedly on a tourist visa when making money from playing shows in the country's St. Petersburg and Moscow as part of her Monster Ball World Tour last year.
St. Petersburg lawmaker Vitaly Milonov has filed the request with the Prosecutor General's office to assess whether GaGa has violated Russia's immigration or tax laws. Milonov reported that GaGa received $1.1 million for the St. Petersburg show alone.
"The visas issued were of the basic cultural exchange sort, which does not grant their bearers the right to engage in any commercial activity," a spokesperson from the office explained.
The cases could now be forwarded to the Foreign Ministry and the Federal Migration Service for further investigation.
GaGa, who has been very vocal about gay rights, was also accused of promoting homosexuality in her concert. In December, Milonov, who is also a supporter of St. Petersburg's gay propaganda ban, announced that he had filed an application with the St. Petersburg Prosecutor's Office regarding the singer.
