Lamar Odom's NBA Career May Be in Jeopardy

As rumors of Lamar Odom's drug use intensify, another pillar of his life — his NBA career — appears to be crumbling.

TMZ reports that the basketball star will not be re-signed by the L.A Clippers in light of his personal problems. NBA sources tell the site that the team was keen on bringing Odom back after he played well last season, but couldn't reach him for days to initiate contract negotiations.

Once news of his alleged drug use surfaced, they changed their minds altogether.

While Odom was reportedly clean during his tenure with the Clippers this past year, Page Six reports that the player was using prescription drugs and cocaine while on the road with the L.A Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks. Sources tell the site that at one time, Odom left such severe burn marks from drug use on his hotel rug, that the rug had to be replaced. The same hotel allegedly found white powder left on the desk of his room.

Other sources say some of Odom's NBA colleagues who are aware of his history tried to stage an intervention this week, but that he refused the help. He did, however, meet with his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, who is desperate to help Odom get his life back on track.

Kardashian reportedly kept Odom's issues a secret for years, only recently telling her mother Kris Jenner and sisters Kourtney and Kim Kardashian.

Jenner is, evidently, "seeing red" over the allegations and the damage they may inflict on the Kardashian name. “Kris fiercely protects the Kardashian brand name and empire and to now have it associated with a drug problem, to her, it’s unacceptable. She used to be very close to Lamar, but she is disgusted by what has happened.”

Sounds like a lot of bad news, but Odom has one silver lining he can count on: his wife Khloe. The troubled NBA star has reportedly moved back into his marital home and is working on his relationship with the reality star, who has been trying hard to get him help despite their ongoing relationship troubles.

Before the drug rumors surfaced, the couple were dogged by talk of infidelity after two women came forward claiming to have had affairs with Odom. Most recently, TMZ reported Odom returned home to Khloe and there is no talk of divorce.
