Robert Downey Jr. no longer needs to worry about who will take over "Iron Man" franchise when he eventually retires. It appears that Mark Wahlberg has an interest in doing so as he himself admits during a promotional interview for his latest film "2 Guns" with Yahoo! UK Movies.
"I would like to take over the 'Iron Man' franchise for Robert Downey," says the actor. The Oscar nominee then continues, "[But] it's one of those things where I kind of like playing real people, [so] I've never been asked."
During the chat, Wahlberg also reveals that he almost starred in a Batman film. "Once I was kind of being talked about for the Robin role in 'Batman [Forever]'," he laughs about the Joel Schumacher pic that turns out to be the "worst movie ever." He adds, "Somebody dodged a bullet!"
Wahlberg is currently filming "Transformers 4", in which he is introduced as the new leading man in the film franchise. He has completed shooting his part in "Lone Survivor".
"2 Guns", which pairs Wahlberg with Denzel Washington, claimed the box office throne during its first-week run, beating "The Wolverine" in its second week and then new entry "The Smurfs 2". It is currently playing at theaters.
