Dirk Nowitzki has been the face of German basketball since he was still a teenager, and with the success he’s enjoyed in the NBA he’s continued to give back to his native country.
Earlier this summer he was even invited to a dinner with Barack Obama when the President was visiting Germany.
He opened his foundation in the U.S. in 2001, and later in Germany in 2005. He had been working with UNICEF as part of his agenda to fight malnutrition in children, not only in Germany, but worldwide.
Now he has been named the German Ambassador for UNICEF.
As he continues his fight to assist children who are less fortunate, Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki has been appointed German Ambassador for UNICEF. With the help of the German Committee for UNICEF, Nowitzki started a call to fight chronic malnutrition of children worldwide.
