Lil Wayne helped Katie Couric kick off season two of her daytime talk show Monday (Sept. 9) with a revealing interview where he talked retirement, seizures, drug addiction and more.
Wayne and Couric first chatted in a 2009 CBS special which aired ahead of the New Orleans native's four Grammy wins that year. Joining Couric four years after he politely told her, "I'm a gangsta Miss Katie," the sit down looked like a meeting of two old friends, who clearly became close since their first one on one.
Addressing his epilepsy, Wayne explained that the round of seizures that had him hospitalized earlier in the year were brought on by overworking, dehydration and codeine. "I had been taking pain pills and those have codeine in them. So when I slowed down on the syrup, it was like a reaction of sorts because I hadn't been having the codeine."
The rapper is now clean, and went on to gush about his children and retiring by the age of 35 to focus on fatherhood.

He has no plans to steer his four sons and teen daughter, Reginea, into entertainment. "I don't want to have no influence on 'hey you must do this,' or 'hey you must do that,' because I didn't have that," he explained. "Because I didn't have that I grew up to be exactly who I wanted to be and how I wanted to be. I want that for all of my kids."
When asked if he will truly be able to hang up the mic, the YMCMB star said he can't wait to walk away. "Oh I know I'll be able to retire at 35 because I'm so ready to retire now."
Since he'll be 31 in a couple weeks, there's only four more years left on that rap clock and fans might want to scoop up as much Weezy as possible.
