The Florida Gators have signed Zach Hodskins, who was born with one hand, as a preferred walk-on. After a fantastic summer tearing up the AAU, Hodskins was entertaining offers from several schools, but ultimately decided to sign with Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators.
Born without the lower part of his left arm, Hodskins has not let this disability stop him from becoming a fantastic basketball player.
He feels his best chance to see the court for meaningful minutes is with Florida. Zach Hodskins, who was born without the lower half of his left arm, committed to Florida on Saturday as a preferred walk-on.
"It's always been my dream growing up," Hodskins said. "I never expected it to be like this, but the hard work has paid off. I'm ecstatic I'm going to be a Florida Gator."
The Lexington, Ky., native had been in contact with several schools -- including Kentucky and coach John Calipari -- but felt his best chance to play was in Gainesville.
"At Florida, I'm going to have every opportunity to get on the floor and play," he said. "The situation was different at Kentucky."
In case you were doubting just how talented Hodkins is, check out this mixtape of him getting buckets and dropping some slick dimes. No matter what criteria you're using to judge his game, dude can flat-out hoop.
