Girl With Swollen Head Underwent Successful Surgery

The 15-month-old girl Roona Begum underwent a surgery so as to reduce the size of her head as earlier reported, she was suffering from the problem of hydrocephalus - a condition in which cerebrospinal fluid increases in the brain, thus increasing the size of the brain to greater extent.

She belongs to a poor family and her father, who is a laborer with the income of Rs 150 per day, couldn't afford the surgery. But the donations from all over the world came as a rescue for the plight of little girl and she underwent the surgery at Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Delhi.
 
Dr. Sandeep Vaishya, one of the members of the surgery team, said, "The surgery went perfectly, much better than expected. It's definitely a success but it's too early to say what the quality of her future life will be like".

Dr. Vaishya also informed that the weight of fluid in the head of the little Roona was almost half than her body mass, which was posing problem in her surgery as well, but by adopting two methods, the surgery went successful.

The case of this little girl came to limelight when one of the news tabloid highlighted her story and drew attention throughout world which helped her get enough donations for her surgery along with famous actor Salman Khan visiting her with the offer from his charity Being Human.
