The lawyer for Khyati Shah, the young woman who was underneath Miguel's accidental Billboard Music Awards leg drop, is seeking feedback from medical providers to determine if legal action will be taken.
Vip Bhola, Esq. told TMZ
that Shah may have suffered brain damage. "Some of the difficulties
she's experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a
neurological head injury," he said. Bhola also implied that Billboard may have been negligent in their
ice pack response (Shah was photographed with Miguel backstage after his
performance holding an ice pack up to her arm). He said she should have
 been rushed to the hospital.
Miguel was was performing "Adorn" at the BMA's last month (May 19), when the incident occurred. He later told BBC Radio 1Xtra that
he felt it was his professional duty to continue singing.
"There's a
natural inclination to make sure everyone is OK, but then there's like
'the show must go on' [mentality] which is professionalism so that kicks
 in," he said.
He said immediately after his performance, he wanted Shah to seek
medical attention. "As soon as the camera goes off, I'm rushing to the
girl, making sure she's OK, saying 'Let me take you to the infirmary,'
talk to her ... I haven't watched it, but I remember the feeling, just
standing there, not knowing what to say ... It was the most awkward
thing but I'm glad she's alright. At least, everyone got a good laugh
out of it."
In the backstage pics both were smiling, laughing. He called her his
"new friend" to inquiring reporters. He tweeted, "Thank goodness Khyati
is OK."
Bhloa said that he expects the test results to come in from
neurologists next week, and that it is Shah's decision whether or not
legal action will be pursued.
