RnB singer Kelly Rowland is dressed in all-black for the cover of Essence magazine’s Fall Style Guide issue. The publication is presenting fashion ideas to help women look their best this season.
Looking like a gothic fashionista, the 32-year-old songbird dons a black fur vest and matching sheer bodysuit on the cover. The deep purple lipstick and bling-bling necklace help accentuate her entire look.
Inside the magazine, Kelly opens up about her much talked-about single, ‘Dirty Laundry.’
“For a long time I wasn’t happy, but that had nothing to do with Beyonce,” she tells the magazine. “That had to do with me trying to get my life in order and make better decisions for myself.”
“I’m seeing all these wonderful things happen for her and I am happy for her. But I want a path. I want things to pop off for me, too,” she adds. “Not on her level but whatever my level is supposed to be.”
Since this is Essence’s Fall Style issue, Rowland is asked about her sense of style — onstage and off. The ‘Kisses Down Low’ artist says she wears a lot of black as well as body-hugging outfits with a ’90s feel to them when she is performing. But when she’s at home, Rowland likes to dress down in loose attire.
“When I’m just chillin’, I just like to throw on my faithful baggy jeans and a cute little shirt,” she says.
Essence magazine’s Fall Style Guide issue hits newsstands next week.
