On Thursday, the Nets agreed to send Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Keith Bogans, Reggie Evans and first-round picks in 2014, '16 and '18 to Boston in exchange for a package headlined by Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry, two league sources told sportsillustrated.
It's a blockbuster, landscape-changing deal for the Nets, who suddenly have emerged as legitimate conference contenders. Garnett fills the team's gaping hole at power forward. Pierce is an instant upgrade at small forward and will take a significant amount of the scoring burden off of Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez.
By agreeing to the deal, the Nets pick up a pair of future Hall of Famers (a trio if you count their new head coach, Jason Kidd) and are clearly looking to make a run sooner, than later.
